Steven Michael Dettelbach (born November 29, 1965) is an American lawyer from Cleveland, Ohio, and is the current director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He was the United States attorney for the Northern District of Ohio for over six years during the presidency of Barack Obama, resigning in 2016. From 2016 to 2022, he was a partner at BakerHostetler, serving as co-leader of the firm's national White Collar Defense and Corporate Investigations team.[1] In July 2022, he was appointed by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate as the director of the ATF.[2]
