Syntactic monoid

In mathematics and computer science, the syntactic monoid Failed to parse (SVG (MathML can be enabled via browser plugin): Invalid response ("Math extension cannot connect to Restbase.") from server "http://localhost:6011/en.wikipedia.org/v1/":): {\displaystyle M(L)} of a formal language ${\displaystyle L}$ is the minimal monoid that recognizes the language ${\displaystyle L}$. By the Myhill–Nerode theorem, the syntactic monoid is unique up to unique isomorphism.
