Teli is a caste traditionally occupied in the oil pressing and trade in India, Nepal, and Pakistan. Members may be either Hindu or Muslim; Muslim Teli are called Roshandaar or Teli Malik.^[2]^[3] India's Prime minister Narendra Modi is from Teli caste.^[4]^[5]^[6]^[7] They are included in OBC category list by the Central government^[8] but the higher sub castes within Teli such as Telik Vaishya^[9] and Tili are considered as Forward castes.^[10]^[11]^[12]
