The Texas attorney general is the chief legal officer[1] of the U.S. state of Texas. The current officeholder, Republican Angela Colmenero, has been appointed to the position on July 10, 2023 by Governor Greg Abbott.[2] She serves instead of Ken Paxton, who has been impeached and suspended without salary while awaiting trial in the Texas Senate.[3]
