The HREP-RAIDS Experiment refers to the Remote Atmospheric and Ionospheric Detection System (RAIDS) portion of the HICO-RAIDS Experiment Payload (HREP) aboard the International Space Station. RAIDS and its companion experiment, the Hyperspectral Imager for Coastal Ocean (HICO), are NASA experiments which operate from the Japanese Experiment Module Exposed Facility (JEM-EF). The RAIDS experiment is a suite of eight optical sensors which collectively span extreme-ultraviolet to near-infrared wavelengths (55-870 nm) and passively measure the Earth's naturally-occurring airglow at altitudes 70-300 km. RAIDS measurements provide information about the composition, density, and temperature of the thermosphere and ionosphere.
