The film stars Murali, Parthiban, Meena, and Malavika, while Vadivelu, Manorama, Anandaraj, Vijayakumar, and Charle play supporting roles. It was released on 30 June 2000 and won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues, in addition to three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards including Third Best Film and Best Dialogue Writer.
