Wikipedia:WikiSpeak

The name WikiSpeak was chosen based on George Orwell's fictional language Newspeak, described in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (or 1984) as being "the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year". However as the vocabulary got bigger instead, it became obvious that it owed at least as much to the pioneering work of Ambrose Bierce's 1911 Devil's Dictionary. This is meant to be taken no less seriously[1] than the Devil's Dictionary or more seriously than 1984. Please feel to contribute, so long as you don't breach any of Wikipedia's Byzantine and Kafka-esque policies or guidelines and end up in Wiki-Hell.

  1. ^ Shhh! Don't tell anybody, but this is not a humorous essay at all. It just has to be labeled as such in order to prevent its Self-evident But Inconvenient Truths from being censored by the Supreme Cabal and its minions.
