Emergenssi

Emergenssi (engl. emergence, emergentism) on alun perin filosofinen ja nykyään yhä voimakkaammin olemassaolon systeemeihin liittyvä käsite, joka tarkoittaa tietystä kokonaisuudesta nousevaa ja syntyvää uutta ilmiötä, ominaisuutta tai toiminnan tasoa. Emergentismillä tarkoitetaan filosofiassa ontologista kantaa, jossa johonkin fysikaaliseen systeemiin ilmestyy uusia ominaisuuksia. Muutosta alatason (yksinkertaisista) säännöistä ylätason (kompleksiseksi) kehittyneeksi järjestelmäksi kutsutaan emergenssiksi. Emergenssin luonnetta ja ehtoja tutkii emergenssioppi.^[1]
