EAJ-PNV est favorable à la reconnaissance d'une nation basque, dans une Europe fédérale. Issu du catholicisme social et de la démocrate chrétienne, EAJ-PNV est devenu aconfessionnel, lors du congrès de Pampelune, en 1977.
