Dampak pandemi COVID-19 terhadap penerbangan

Pandemi COVID-19 telah memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap industri penerbangan akibat pemberlakuan pembatasan perjalanan dan menurunnya jumlah penumpang. Penurunan jumlah penumpang berakibat pada pembatalan penerbangan sehingga banyak maskapai penerbangan terpaksa melakukan PHK besar-besaran atau bahkan bangkrut. Beberapa maskapai lainnya tidak mengembalikan dana tiket yang dibatalkan untuk mengurangi kerugian. Produsen pesawat terbang dan operator bandara juga dilaporkan melakukan PHK terhadap para pegawainya.

Krisis dunia penerbangan saat pandemi COVID-19 dianggap sebagai krisis terparah dalam sejarah penerbangan menurut CEO Airbus SE, Guillaume Faury,^[1] CEO EasyJet, Johan Lundgren,^[2] petinggi United Airlines, Oscar Munoz,^[3] CEO Qantas, Alan Joyce,^[4] dan beberapa media, seperti Financial Times,^[5] The New York Times,^[6] dan The Independent.^[7]
