Talk:Contiguous United States

Merging the article about "Continental United States" and the article about "Contiguous United States" would probably help eliminate the confusion between the two terms, but agreement on the definition of "Continental United States" should be obtained first.  The definition of "Continental United States" in Wikipedia (Continental United States) includes Alaska. This is different than the definition used in Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1101(a)(38):

(38) The term "United States", except as otherwise specifically herein provided, when used in a geographical sense, means the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands of the United States, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The U.S. Code is using the term "Continental United States" the way Wikipedia defines the term Contiguous United States.
