Ancestry.com LLC is an American genealogy company based in Lehi, Utah. The largest for-profit genealogy company in the world, it operates a network of genealogical, historical records, and related genetic genealogy websites.
In November 2018, the company was said to have provided access to approximately 10 billion historical records, to have 3 million paying subscribers, and to have sold 18 million DNA kits to customers.[7] By 2022, this number had risen to 30 billion records according to the company.[8] On December 4, 2020, The Blackstone Group acquired the company in a deal valued at $4.7 billion.[9][10][11] By 2023, Ancestry was the largest provider of consumer DNA testing in the world with a network of over 25 million users,[12] and Ancestry DNA testing is now available in 128 countries around the globe.
