Tarifit (Tarifit: Tmaziɣt, pronounced [θmæzɪχt]), also known as Riffian (Arabic: الريفية, romanized: ar-rīfīyah) is a Zenati Berber language spoken in the Rif region in northern Morocco. It is spoken natively by some 1,200,000[2][3] Riffians, comprising 3.2% of the population,[1] primarily in the Rif provinces of Nador, Al Hoceima and Driouch.
The autonym of the language is Tmaziɣt, which can be used to refer to any Berber language or, more specifically, Tarifiyt (pronounced Tarifect in central dialects).[4][5]
