The Boston mayoral election of 1861 took place on Monday, December 9, 1861,^[1][2] and saw the reelection of Joseph Wightman.

Wightman was nominated by both the Democratic Party and "Citizens" tickets.^[3] His opponent, Edward Silas Tobey, was nominated by the Republican Party.^[1]
